The Great Southern Mine is where you are headed. I am told that it is also called The Purple Passion Mine. There is a good size foundation of what I believe was a mill and a little further up the wash there is a covered shaft, an uncoverd shaft and a round, about 12 ft high, water tank full of water. Take 1-17 north to Carefree Highway (ST. Route 74). Take a left and follow the road for about 30 miles. About .8tenths of a mile past mile marker 2 turn right onto Castle Hot Springs Rd. Cross over the cattle guard and set your trip meter to 0.00. Further up the wash is another mine area. There are 2 shafts in the area. One is covered with a door. Another one is surrounded by a fence. There is also a round cement water tank about 10 feet high. The road continues on up the wash where it eventually turns into a road that goes back to some more digs. I do not know where it ends. Reset you trip meter to 0.00 in front of the foundation and head down the wash. I will take you to a few more mines and another mill foundation.
